Darcy

mjkj's points story: A Mix-Up

mjkj asked for a story about Darcy

It was the first day of college and Darcy was terrified.

Classes hadn't even started yet. They were just moving in. She and her parents had gotten there at nine o'clock that morning and had to wait for a school employee to come in and show them where her dorm was. It was called Mary Thomas. They'd gotten all her stuff, her books and clothes, moved in by ten. Then they'd gone to the dining hall and had a light brunch, just to have something to do.

And then her parents had gone home.

Chapter 36: Logistics

To Corrie's surprise, Duncan was the one who raised his hand. "Go ahead," she said to him.

He cleared his throat. "Do you really need me to be the treasurer?"

Chapter 35: Club Library

Corrie didn't see anything out of the window--it faced what was basically an open field until the walls and hedge bordering the campus stopped it, and in the dark, she couldn't even see any movement at all. So she was startled when, at one minute after eight, Darcy opened the door, bringing in a rush of sound with her. She was followed after a moment by Theresa and the end of the sound. Looking at the two of them, Corrie realized they were damp--there was clearly rain spattered on their coats and Darcy's hat, and Theresa's hair had drops shining in it.

Chapter 6: Darcy and Theresa

A girl with bobbed brown hair and a pink dress with a full skirt grinned and waved back at Edie. She took a step toward them, but then another girl, who had long brown hair, put her hand on the first girl's arm and stopped her. The second girl looked upset. They turned to each other and started talking, their lips moving rapidly, though Dawn couldn't hear a word they were saying over the noise in the dining hall. If only she'd learned to read lips.

"What's going on?" she asked Edie in a low voice.
