Chatoyant College tends to make me think of my uni' days, especially when discussing university life. This evening I looked up maps of my old university.
Tonight's dream:
I was laying in bed thinking back to university and, in particular, the last few essays and exams before graduating. In going over my memories I noted that I had sold my landspeeder to a friend for £2000.
All of a sudden I thought, "Landspeeder???" and woke up.

Though, perhaps, that thing would be cool to have?
I have two finals today. I dreamt, right before I woke up, that I'd taken one of them home with me. Then I was done and tried to hand it in.
So, that counted as fraud (you cannot take an exam out of the exam room; it's counted as the same level of fraud as cheating. I don't think you get expelled, but you cannot take the exam again for a whole year. Or something. Haven't tried it yet.) and then I couldn't hand it in.
Then I woke up and resolved not to take the exam home! :P
(I finished the first one and am now waiting for the second one.)

Gosforth, the part of the city I live in, was surrounded by forest (rather than the rest of the city). My flat was in a high rise (like you see in American films, and some offices here) but in its current location. It was dark and stormy.
In the dream I was listening to the radio and a warning came on. It stated that the authorities were advising people to stay indoors for 2 reasons: the first was because there was a storm on they way and the second was because of the expected dinosaur attack after the storm had passed. It was annoying because that meant that I had to cancel a (grocery) shopping trip I had planned.
I looked out the window and could see dinosaurs moving along the trees. Apparantly they had escaped from a genetic research lab nearby.
I woke up wondering why the dinosaur attack hadn't come. I could vaguely remember some sparodic gunfire but it didn't seem enough.

Other things to bear in mind about the dream: The warnings were made in a tone of voice that suggested that the problems we were experiencing were normal everyday problems. For some reason I know that my building was dinosaur proof so I had no worries about anything untoward happening (whilst I was inside, anyway). I think the building was bullet proof as well.

So cool! But yeah, kind of annoying if you can't do what you planned, especially in a dream :P
All of you have seen Jurassic Parc? If not, go rent it right now...
The books are also pretty cool, they're written by Michael Crichton. By doing those books, and writing ER, and all the other stuff I'm forgetting about, I think he changed the way we see television today. (he's kind of my hero :P does it show?)
No more dreams about tests for a while! I passed all of them. Yay!

I'm glad your exams went well.
I'll wait until August before posting the nightmare I had when I was doing my Finals at university. Whilst the dream itself is not that bad I don't want to get in the way of other people's enjoyment of this site if they still have Finals to do.
I used to be into Michael Crichton but went off him when I heard how he's going around America stating that Climate Change isn't really happening.

I read that book! I liked the parts about Yellowstone now being completely different from when they first tried to preserve it, because the preserving went wrong. There were other examples as well, but this part I saw in front of me, like Clare's texts do. But the terrorist plot that was behind all of it was a bit thin. It was published in 2004, I think he died shortly after that.
It's called State of Fear, by the way. So I think we agree: read anything else :P

I wasn't thinking of the book itself as that's fiction. However, he fact that he supported (and I think toured) with Republican candidates, gave interviews, etc, stating that he felt that what he said in the book was true.
{edit} I apologise if I've got some details wrong but I do know that he does actively support those who feel that man made climate change is not happening.

The book is supposed to be "educational". I thought it was a little weird, though it has helped me deal with other ecology-sceptics (then I knew how they thought! muhahaha!). It was disappointing as a book.
I missed all the campaigns though... halfway through high school (lasts six years here). I now conclude he must have helped getting Bush reelected and now he's a little less my hero.
(he still changed tv as we know it though :P)

This is a dream from about a week ago. It must have inspired me because when I woke up (in the middle of the night), I wrote it all down. By the way, I am not a participant in the dream. It was almost as if I was watching a film or TV programme.
Part I:
A man seems to befriend people at random. Then he does something completely out of character and watches his new friend's reaction. He makes friends with another man then verbally abuses a bystander. The person who he befriended takes him to task for abusing the other. The first person then replies that his reaction shows that he has the right qualities that he expects in a friend.
This all happens in a large room full of people. The room is so large that, if you didn't notice the tiled floors and, a few hundred metres out you can see walls, you could persuade yourself that you're outside. We know that this is the first floor (i.e. the floor above ground level).
Part II:
In an apartment (funished in a fashion that pre-date man's ability to build apartments) a woman is carrying her daughter on her shoulders. The baby is wrapped in a blanket and we can't see her features.
The father scolds the woman for keeping the child and calls the baby "monstrous". Although we don't see anything, we know that the father beats his wife.
When the father goes to bed, the woman leaves the apartment with the baby and walks down some modern looking wooden stairs. When she gets to the bottom of the stairs she follows the signs to "Customs". She ends up in a crypt-like structure where the first two men are.
She moves in their direction then it seems that she has hit an invisible barrier. The 2nd man (the one who objected to the first's behaviour) says, "30ft. Of course."
The first man asks him what he means.
"30 ft is the distance you limit stories whilst you check them for dangerous ideas."
We instantly know that the building houses stories (both works of fiction and non-fiction). The father, mother and child are all part of a story. The baby represents a new idea. The 2nd man is a citizen of the building (the stories reside there until they are approved in which case they can move on). The 2nd man has realised that the first is part of the ruling class of the building. We know that he is actually the prince of the regime that runs the building and has left the palace because he's not sure if he's being given the truth by the people around him.
The 2nd man addresses the woman and gently says, "I'm sure it'll be OK."
The woman finds a gap in the barrier and squeezes through to meet them. She thanks the men and tells them that she's carrying her son.

Finals and dreams
I remember a nightmare I had when I was taking my finals. Finals and dreams don't mix very well, do they?
An old dream: Laidback dinosaur dream

{edit: Just changed the title)
