Announcement: schedule change

This year, like last year, I plan to do National Novel Writing Month. However, unlike last year, I won't be writing anything Chatoyant College-related (I swear, eventually A November Dream will be available for purchase) and I won't be posting any of my NaNo. I planned to have Chatoyant College update as usual during the month of November, but though I tried hard, I just couldn't get my update buffer up enough to have everything written ahead of time.

Therefore, for the month of November at least, Chatoyant College will return to an update schedule that most of you probably don't remember it ever having--twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays. (This week there will be an update on Friday as usual. Next week, there will be one on Monday, November 1, and one on Thursday, November 4.)

I may keep that slower update schedule past November, or I may return to three times a week. I do know that as much fun as writing Chatoyant College is and as much as I enjoy hearing from all my readers, it's been taking about 90% of my writing focus, and I need to turn more focus to other projects if I ever want to make a living at this writing thing--and that is my goal. I have projects in the works that are meant for traditional publication, and others in the works that I intend to put up on the web. Hopefully, there will be some more interesting things for you to read on this site in the near future.

Thank you for all the support you have given me. If you get bored between Chatoyant College updates, check out my newly-updated links page. And remember, if you really think you need an extra update, Saturday chapters are still an option if I receive a total of $10 in donations!

Thank you!

I will keep you posted. Maybe I'll put up a progress bar on the front page of the site so you guys can see just how much I'm writing ;)

Very cool!

Will you be posting or selling or something what you're writing now?

(also, the welcome-page explains so much. Thought a novel was 10,000 words, then I had a 5000-word paper, and it was something like 12 pages without the styling, and I kept thinking: huh? but a book surely is bigger than 24 a4-pages?
So, thank you Clare! I keep learning stuff here. Like writing 5000-word papers.)

This novel

I plan to send it out for traditional publication. If I exhaust my options for editors and no one accepts it, I'll probably self-publish it as an ebook, and in that case I'll definitely post the first chapter or more here.

The usual goal for NaNoWriMo is 50,000 words, but that's really short for the current industry; the word count to aim for in fantasy, so I hear, is 100,000. If it helps, each of the books of Chatoyant College has been somewhere around 45,000 words!

Wow!

That's really very much!

But 1) will you tell us the title you're publishing it under and 2) might it be in time for Christmas? (if not, well, my birthday's in January. No pressure or anything :) )

of course

I will tell you what the title is!

But no, it will definitely not be available in the next few months. I will probably not finish it in November and after that it takes a long time to hear back from publishers! Maybe it will be ready for your birthday in 2012 or 2013...
