What did you have for dinner today?
Easy game: tell us what you had for dinner!
Did you make it yourself? Was it hard? Was it good? Recipe?

nothing that exciting ...
I had Taco Bell. On my way to work. Hard to cook/prepare anything when you've spent the morning traveling and the day sleeping, so you make do with fast fuud. Had I my druthers, I would have eaten a Kaiserkrainer with Spaetzle. But that requires forethought.
Or crepes. Crepes are always good. :)
Quick
zap 2 ears corn in microwave bag w/seasoning and "butter spray"
zap bag of microwave brown rice, after adding seasoning and "tiger sauce"
zap a fillet of salmon in the bag from the corn. marinate w/seasoning "tiger sauce" and "key lime juice" and pour the hot rice on top(before zapping).
1baggie, 1paper plate, 1fork, about 12 minutes
Tiger Sauce?
Wazzat?
Re:Tiger Sauce?
Google it!!!!!!!!!!
Warms foods up, without getting silly about it. More flavor than a "Louisiana" sauce. Available in many supermarkets.
http://www.virtualcajun.com/Try_Me-Try_Me_Tiger_Sauce.html
Tiger Sauce is a leading seller in South Louisiana. It is a moderately spicy blend of 28 ingredients in a cayenne pepper base. With a touch of sweet and sour, it is perfect for meats, seafood, and poultry. It goes great with just about anything -- even on macaroni & cheese.
Shepherd's Pie
The vegan way! Dead easy, I just used soya mince instead of meat. A jar of Shepherd's Pie sauce (yes I cheated a bit there lol) with some carrots, peas, onion, garlic and ginger mixed with the soya mince (which doesn't even need to be cooked or defrosted beforehand) and then topped with mashed potato - which I can do from scratch, but Smash is so much quicker! Voila.
Hm...
Trying to remember what we had! Actually I think my parents had a slightly different meal with tomatoes and yogurt in it. But I had rice, ground meatless, wax beans, broccoli, a little bit of Israeli couscous, and I think some edamame. My dad made it. And for dessert (well, if it counts as dessert if it wasn't cooked until two hours later) I made strawberry-rhubarb cobbler.
my dinner this weekend
I could say spinach with boiled potatoes and salad on Saturday and Ćevapčići, rice and salad on Sunday.
To be frank I cooked neither according to the well known recipe.
Salad consists of apples (>50%), root vegetables, onion, sprouts and whatever fresh herbs grow in my garden. Seasoned with salt, vinegar, pumpkin seed oil and yoghurt or soured milk.
The "spinach" contained no spinach, only chard, beet leaves (beet is sold right now including the leaves), stinging nettle, blanched, blended together with flour and milk, boiled and seasoned with salt and garlic.
I boiled the Ćevapčići instead of frying them (health issue) and I prefer risotto to usual rice. I admit it looks a bit strange, but it tastes good and it even conforms to the strict diet of my mother.
What's that?
Ćevapčići? What does it look like? :)

Um ...
Wow, you people eat wierd stuff. :P
I'm too lazy to be bothered with cooking things. Gimme something I can nuke, and I'm happy.
I just got home from a family
I just got home from a family barbecue, full of yummy food. Homemade fries, bbq'd corn on the cob, chicken, and hamburgers.
I can't wait to wake up and have leftovers for breakfast!
We had...
Turkey Burgers and cheese sticks.
pizza, pizza, pizza...
I've been staying with my parents. Yesterday we had soup and bread and they made fish for me! Yay!
Tonight I'll be having pizza with a bunch of people from school. Think I'll pick the one with four kinds of cheese in it. What kind of pizza do you all like? What do the vegan people do with pizza?
Vegan pizza
I have two options. (Actually I have more, but I'm not a fan of tomatoes or most fake cheeses.) One, which I have more often, is a frozen fake-cheese pizza made by Tofutti that actually bubbles up and is quite yummy. The other is a nearby pizza place that is willing to make me a pizza crust with just broccoli, olive oil, and garlic on it. No protein in that dinner, but it's so good!
Nice
Ah, I am glad for you. That is nice, that they have and make something for you that is actually quite good :)
I think that living vegan is quite the challenge...
...to find something to eat. There is not many restaurants where you can get something vegan...
mjkj
Not Such a Challenge
Apart from obvious things like chips and salad, most restaurants have stuff on their menu that's either "accidently" vegan (they didn't deliberately set out to make it vegan, it just is), or can easily be made vegan by leaving out the cheese or whatever.
As for the pizza, there's the option of having all the normal toppings like mushrooms, sweetcorn, pineapple, tomato sauce etc and not bothering with the cheese, which most pizza places and restaurants will do, or you can use vegan cheese and if you want something "meaty" you can use some of the many fake meats available. A friend of mine runs a vegan catering company, here's an example of vegan pizzas: http://www.happycowcatering.co.uk/pizza.asp So yummy!
The Tofutti one sounds good Claire! I don't think we can get it over here, which is a shame. Must be nice and convenient to have ready-made cheesey pizza! We can get some Tofutti stuff, their cream cheese is delicious! And their cheese slices are good with burgers.
I agree
It's easy to get pizza with no cheese. No cheese and no sauce is weirder, but hey, I gotta be me!
Tofutti's cream cheese is amazing.
But really I'm commenting to question your list of "normal toppings." If I were listing "normal" pizza toppings I would probably say pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, and sausage. (Yeah, most of it's meat.) Are corn and pineapple really "normal" where you are?! I know pineapple and ham is a reasonably common topping combination, but I've never even heard of putting corn on pizza.
Speaking as a true first-year-student...
... I must say that corn-from-a-can will go with anything at all.
Also, it goes on a lot of pizzas here.
Yesterday, we wanted to get ice cream for dinner (in my defense, it would have pieces of fresh fruit in it) but the ice cream shop was closed. Then we went to mc donald instead.
Tonight, I will eat at the student association. Students cook there; we'll get a starter, a huge meal and a dessert for very little money. It's always delicious, a lot of friends will be there and I'm looking forward to it :)
Good Food
Is always better in good company! Have fun!
Vegetables
I dunno, I don't really like a lot of veg on my pizza - cheese and tomato is good enough for me! Obviously you can get vegan versions of pepperoni and sausage, I was just trying to think of what people have on their pizza that's vegan by default! You can get pizzas with sweetcorn, usually the type with tons of different toppings anyway. Same with pineapple. But since I don't tend to eat those sort of pizzas I'm really not the best person to say what a "normal" topping is :P
There is
An Italian place around here that makes this chicken spinach artichoke pizza on a tortilla. It's basically their spinach dip on a tortilla with cheese and chicken. A spinach artichoke pizza with broccoli and garlic sounds good to me. :P
I LOVE Garlic.
Great....now I'm hungry and sleepy.
Garlic
Love it! Weird, I always get hungry when I think of garlic. And whenever I watch the film Ratatouille I always get a craving for something garlicy, even though garlic's not even mentioned :P
Meeeeeeeeeat
I'm too much a carnivore to become vegan. I greatly enjoy vegetables and realize there are health benefits to the vegan lifestyle ... but ... call it what you will, I wants my MEAT.
*nom nom nom steak*
Take-out...
Had a busy day today, so I went to get ice cream for dinner. To compromise for that, I choose one from a chain where they'll add fresh fruit, and I also got some fresh juice. Also, ice cream was good because this song is very true today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8HsEbb-9sA still waiting for the city to cool down!
I don't actually like take-out. If I really can't cook, I usually have a sandwich. Sometimes we'll get Thai food, because it's not that fat and actually tastes like something :)
Do you eat take-out? What do you pick? Do you like it?
Indian Food
My favourite is an Indian take-away just down the road from me. They do Bombay Aloo and Aloo Matar, which is basically potato cooked with loads of herbs and spices and a bit of tomato, so it's in a sort of spicy, slightly tomatoey sauce (the matar also has peas). Or there's always chips from the chip shop, all squashy and vinegary - yum! I don't get take-away very often, but sometimes it's so nice not to have to cook.
ohh...
Now Í'm nauseous from thinking about those poor chips! How can you abuse them like that? :(
Indian stuff sounds great though... mmmm...
Lol
What do you mean? Chip shop chips are the best, and you can only get them from chip shops! Any chips you get in restaurants or cook at home are nice (especially curly chips!) but they're just not the same!
You put vinegar on them!
Which is a crime to chips, to me anyway.
I'm having sausages, rice and applesauce and some juice with vitamines in them. This is the first week of the university and we keep having things like club-sign-ups, with lots of people and little sleep, so we have to eat healthy to avoid the flu!
On Friday the government announced the flu is not that dangerous, now we can't get tamiflu anymore.
My objection is different
I liked vinegar with chips (especially since it's a sort of sweet vinegar) when I visited the UK, but squishy?! Yecch! Here in the US, where we call them fries, the crisper they are, the better.
So.
Maybe we can go and free the poor chips! :)
It's a plan!
We'll attack the UK from both sides. They'll never see us coming.
Grrr
Leave our chips alone! lol I'll see you coming, I'll be on my guard now!
You don't understand, it's just chip shop chips that are squashy. You can get the crispy "fries" type chips at cafés/restaurants, or buy them from a supermarket to cook at home. Or big fat oven chips. Or curly chips, which I just had for tea! That's the beauty of chips: their infinite variety :P
I'll give you half a bag of m&ms and whatever's left...
... from my bag of liquorice if YOU leave the chips alone! :D but seriously, squashy fries are good? Here, when they are squashy they were baked too short or at too low a temperature and then they are very greasy.
Chips for tea? Oh dear...
Today we had plain pasta with about a toe of garlic per person and carrots and some left-over sausages. We didn't have time for dessert as we had to go out and defend the good.
Mwahaha
The chips are mine! And squashy chip shop chips are fried, not baked, and are most definitely cooked all the way through. Actually, I haven't had them in a while, but it's so funy how you all seem to think it's weird! You wouldn't if you tried them...
I love pasta and garlic! I only have something like chips for tea if I'm too tired from work to cook something proper. Anyway, it's nice to eat junk food occasionally, just as long as you get fruit and veg too. I love fruit - no need to cook or prepare it lol.
By the way, the M&Ms would have to be vegan, and I loath liquorice, so you'll have to do better than that! :P Teeheehee
Hi everyone! Yesterday we had
Hi everyone!
Yesterday we had pre-cut vegetables (they're very very cheap) with sauce and shrimps.
The day before that I had some amazing penne quatro formaggi. What did you eat all summer?
I had to work late last night
I had to work late last night so when I got home my husband had dinner waiting for me. Pork chops with my favorite BBQ sauce cooked on it, and white chedder creamy noodles with a side of green beans. It was so good. My husband loves to cook for me and believe me I do not mand at all.
Hi everyone!
I'm back at school, which means I'll have to cook again, or at least think about food way more than I did all summer.
Yesterday was my last really free day until Christmas or something, so we had pizza. Tonight I'll have dinner with the roommates, not sure what we'll eat yet, but something healthy I suppose. I'm already working on dessert.
What will you eat tonight? Do you also eat healthier during the school (or work) year than during the summer?
As good a place as any to say hi.
(hi, I'm Lyn)
Last night we had home made pork & beans in honor of best-commercial-Sunday. Tonight is strip steaks and salad. My husband loves me ;-)
~Lyn
Hi Lyn!
What's best commercial Sunday?
I had dinner with a group of friends. We had spaghetti with vegetables because one of them is a vegetarian. Then we had ice cream and cookies. Yay!
Commercial Sunday
The Super Bowl!! An American tradition. The final battle between one american football team and another. It also happens to be the day that the marketers from all over plaster the world with their newest commericals. They cost a WHOLE LOT to air, so they try to be the best they can be!
YAY
You signed up! I didn't think you actually would! :D
Hello Lyn
And be welcome :)
mjkj
Thought I should brag about this.
Yesterday I cooked! It was pasta with pesto and vegetables. Good, huh?
Now I'm not so good. I started having cornflakes for breakfast two months ago, and last week I discovered they're also completely okay without any yoghurt or anything with it.
Still don't feel like cooking.
And it's Sunday, so we'll (well, my friends :)) will be making dinner. Probably won't be very healthy but it will be nice to hang out.
Good thing it's microwave
Good thing it's microwave friendly...
Hmmm for dinner definately
Hmmm for dinner definately not a junk food . I had rice and dal and vegetables and pickle all made by mom.
